2013 Boston Barefoot Running Festival

Thank you for your interest in the 2nd Annual Boston Barefoot Running Festival (BBRF) and professionally timed BBRF 5K Race along the Charles River (safe and smooth flat course). The Boston Barefoot Running Festival is the only 2 day barefoot running event in the country celebrating barefoot running and the natural running style. Open to all near and far (barefoot and minimalist), the BBRF offers barefoot running clinics, the only professionally timed barefoot/minimalist 5K Road race (course pending USATF Certification) in New England, a Saturday afternoon catered cookout (new), an early Saturday evening Speakers Presentation at MIT, a Sunday barefoot running clinic on the beach (new), a Sunday 5 mile beach run (new) and a Sunday New England clambake by the beach (new). Last year’s inaugral BBRF was a success with over 100 people. This year’s BBRF is going to be even better. Both events are by a River: Saturday’s event is by the Charles River in Boston/Cambridge and Sunday’s Beach location is by the Merrimack River in Salisbury Beach/Newburyport and the Atlantic Ocean.

About the Festival

This is the 2nd year, OFFERED only in this area once a year!!

Sponsored by the New England Barefoot Runners, the 2nd annual Boston Barefoot Running Festival and BBRF 5K Road Race along the Charles River on day 1 and at Salisbury Beach State Reservation on day 2 have been created to educate, inform and bring together those interested in natural running form and an alternative running technique. The event encourages barefoot and minimalist runners and strives to provide a social and educational platform to meet barefoot legends and fellow barefoot runners in a positive, fun and learning atmosphere.

So join us!

Meet fellow barefoot runners through the two-day event, which includes a Saturday morning barefoot running clinic with Ken Bob Saxton, a professionally timed barefoot/minimalist 5K Road Race (course pending USATF Certification) along the Charles River and a catered cookout at the DCR’s Artesani Park after the race and awards ceremony. There will be an early Saturday evening Speakers Presentation at MIT hosted by Ken Bob Saxton featuring Tyler Silverman, a Barefoot Running Podiatrist and Barefoot Runner Russ Tedrake, co-Director of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab Center for Robotics at MIT immediately after the cookout. Sunday’s event at the DCR’s Salisbury Beach State Reservation includes a barefoot running clinic, a beach run and a catered New England Clambake by the beach.

T-shirts are included in the registration, but ONLY to the first 100 participants. Don’t lose out, register now!!

Barefoot Optional

Although this Festival focuses on barefoot running, anyone who wants to register is welcome! While we will certainly encourage you to run barefoot (and to learn all about this terrific way of running), you can wear whatever you like in the workshops, fun runs, and the BBRF 5K race.
